Strings Studio

Music is a gift! When students learn an instrument, it is like learning another language, and they develop new connections in their brain that make other types of academic and linguistic learning easier.

Blending Suzuki and classical methods in my strings studio, I teach private, 30-minute lessons for violin and viola students starting at ages 3-5 and continuing through middle and sometimes high school. Where and when I have the opportunity, I teach beginning orchestra and chamber music, often geared toward homeschoolers.  I offer instruction in:

• Beginning Orchestra, introducing all three instruments

Masterclasses

To students not living near Lynchburg, VA, I am pleased to offer masterclasses over video on a one-time basis, or no more than once a month.  The reason I do not teach full-time remotely is that I fully believe in the importance of student and teacher or chamber group being together in the same room to build sound and skills.  However, if your student is preparing for a performance and would like extra preparation; or if your student would like to grow in technique over the summer or as a supplement to a school orchestra program, I'm happy to walk with them and help them level up with a masterclass or a few, either in person if geography allows, or by video if not.  Sometimes, we all could use a new ear, a different perspective, and a helping hand to get to that next level!  To apply for a masterclass, check out the application below.
